Well, I think I've figured out that "puff" of smoke going out to the right of the barrel. More than likely, it is a "compensated" barrel since I feel that Obumbo needs all the compensation he can get.

Oh, and you guys are killing me with all the "variations." Keep it up.

Not only is it not in the "pocket", its so way up on the arm that he will likely have a flinch. That is the poorest example of a skeet shooter I've ever seen unless it a first day noob and the other shooters will make sure you don't look that way in the future.

So am I just crazy or if that was a compensated barrel would it not have 2 plumes of smoke coming out the sides?
Other than that it is pretty easy to tell that he definitely is not comfortable with shooting in this pict.

For them to get a photo that bad, there were no other shooters. It had to be set up by someone in the WH press office who knows nothing about shooting.

But probably not protected from copyright infringement, which is likely what they'd use as legal cover.

I don't think copyright applies here. He is a public figure and I believe this would fall under fair use unless you were somehow using it to make a profit. Now maybe if the images were made by a private party who is not being paid with taxpayer dollars, but even then I doubt they could get anything to stick since the White House put the image out there.

It was likely shot by the presidential photographer (yes, every president has had one in recent years) and is still subject to copyright laws since the government owes the image. It is also likely that the photographer could retain partial ownership of the copyright and therefore would have a say in how it was manipulated or used outside of release to the media (think corporate headshot photos). Just because it was released to the media does not strip the photo of cooyright protection and not everything that is funded with taxpayer money immediately gives the citizens control of its intellectual property. I was researching it last night and the best answer out there is that copyright and fair use aren't clearly established in terms of which trumps which. I'm just assuming that'd be the easiest way of enforcing how the image is used since copyright as it relates to the first amendment aren't established law. The guy who made the iconic Obama posters from the 2004 campaign was making a political statement in support of a candidate but he was still liable for violating the copyright of the photographer who took the image that was used IIRC.
