why does sellers amp up the trade value when offering a trade on a sale ad?

I think a lot of it is risk. You KNOW what $300 is worth, but if you take an item for trade, you may or may not get you money out of the item. Generally, I see higher trade values attached to ads where the seller isn't looking for a specific trade, just says they are open to trades in general. I think of these ads as guys/gals who are buying and selling to try and make a buck, not just get rid of an item.

guess why I was baffled because I left the element of Buy right, so you can Sell right if you need to. If I buy new retail then add coatings, sights, etc, then some now believe their new glock is a $700 gun. Well thanks for the perspective gents. Tis the reason I generally will look long and hard for a leo or something trade in when buying generic items rather than new. Can always be sold quickly and replaced quickly if needed.

If you are going to cry about offers on here, then don't put "obo", or better yet, take it to the pawn shop or gun show, so you can get the 110% YOU think it deserved. Remember no one gives a **** about your sentimental value. I'm not paying for the gun your grand pappy gave you on his death bed. And because you put some a sling on it, i'm not paying $100 more then I can get it new at Academy.

You guys are awesome. Perhaps I just miss the days of deals on guns, both local and the net. They are still out there depending on a buyers needs, but folks got to quit paying full retail for the gun, the finishes and the sights, guns may not depreciate as bad as cars, but generic guns do not appreciate like some think. Lol, you all have a good one...I am out.
