Are you implying that people making $400k/yr just got a good job "working" at $200/hr? LOL
Best surgeons don't make that kind of money.

There are plenty of us on the board, and yes, "working" is how it's done (albeit in specialized fields)...

Crappy Surgeons make way more than that, so I'm not sure where you got your "Stats"

Seriously? Over on dimoRATic Underground they're blaming Bush for instituting the cuts in the first place.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Think back to what happened shortly after the Clinton gun-ban. History backs what I'm saying and Congress is full of scared politicians in swing-states. Only the uber-left wing-nuts are shouting about gun control - the middle-of-the-road dems and swing-state reps/senators are watching things shake out to see what's best for their career.

What's best for their career is to keep their mouths shut or vote against gun-control - the people proved that historically.

My biggest fear is how this country will handle an all-republican Congress/President (because when dems get hit with these tax-increases, they will turn on their own like Romney in a congressional-campaign).

I guarantee they'll be coming out of the woodwork to vote against the folks responsible for these tax-increases and with Obama-Care hitting too... man, you talk about some pissed off swing-voters that will swing way toward Republican.

If they take on gun-control then we can probably say goodbye to a two-party system for about 10 years - it'll be all Republican all the time (oddly enough untapped power from an all-republican congress/president scares me almost more than our current situation).

Might be too late by then.

Unfortunately, they'll vote the way that their leadership mandates. The Dems are very very organized now and emboldened. Steamrolling in the healthcare act and November's sweeps gave them power that will affect us for the next decade. Hold onto your seats. It's coming.

They've pissed off plenty of people with the Healthcare plan, but a lot of folks have yet to realize it - once they get hit with the higher taxes, they'll be pissed (this is one of the reasons I was actually glad Romney didn't get elected - now Obama and the Dems get to reap what they sewed by being in power when all of these taxes hit).

I'm just saying - Healthcare may have been pretty close to a 50/50 split in the country, but it pissed off a lot of folks. Add to that gun-control (even with the frenzy of the media doing all they can to skirt the facts - now more than ever, we have solid proof that what they're saying is absolutely not true and it's actually garnering pity for the poor beat-up pro-2nd crowd - we can use that).

None of that is nearly as powerful as hiking taxes on a middle-class working family who happens to be middle-of-the-road but voting democrat (I know plenty of folks like that). You want to make a voter change his mind - hit him/her in the pocket-book.

A lot of younger aspiring-to-be-career politicians who happen to hail from swing-states can see that - if they don't mind their P's and Q's, they'll be dealing with pissed-off voters who are out for blood. If it's one thing even Dems know how to do, it's watch out for their own best interests.

It will get worse, but I predict it will cause a massive swing (and then it will possibly get even worse under republicans - keep in mind how many republicans were for the NDAA and are more for corporations' rights over citizens - they're politicians too and lobbyists are powerful as balls right now).
