WTB cowboy action stuff

Looking to get into cowboy action shooting. Interested in pre 1900 model guns used for CAS. Double barrel side by side shotguns, Winchester 1897 and model 12s, lever action rifles, single action revolvers, etc

American Arms Regulator (a Uberty company) SA in .45 - Took it in on a trade deal. I have never shot it, so I'd let it go. Case Hardened framed, Blued barrel and wheel; It is really pretty. Already sold the holster that came with it, I think, I'd need to check on that. No biggie to me either way.

Whatever you do, try to keep your guns as consistent in calibers as you can so you are not having to have lots of different ammo.

I guess this is one of those things I know almost nothing about. It seems to me with my limited knowledge that if one is actually going to shoot "cowboy action" wouldn't one want a newer firearm instead of a pre 1900 pistol or gun? I have a few pre 1900 guns and they shoot but are fairly expensive and me personally wouldn't want to use them for that purpose? Or perhaps I am misunderstanding the post I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box.

Ruger Vaqueros are a modern design (Legal for CAS)
1873 Colt Clones (New but using the 1873 design)

If you haven’t done so already, you should go to a few matches before you buy. Everyone there will probably offer to let you try their irons. Even buying used, cowboy guns are expensive. You really don’t want to buy gear that doesn’t suit you and then wind up buying again.

The Uberti offered above are excellent.
Ruger Vaquero are excellent arms. I shoot CAS with a brace of Blackhawk. I prefer the slightly larger size. SANCTIONED MATCHES require the Vaquero fixed sight over the Blackhawk. A .44 Blackhawk in classifieds, excellent price.
Surjimmy has a Rossi Overland in the classifieds, great gun. I love mine.
Same with rifles, the pistol caliber levers listed above will serve you well.

Equipment and wardrobe CAN add big $$$$ to your expense, if you let it or want it.

As Cat City Slim suggests, attend some matches (both fun/informal and sanctioned) TriCityGC (I believe) has both.
Short Grass Rangers have fun matches in Grandfield on 2nd and 4th Saturday, every month. Great bunch, they will loan you equipment, give more help than you could ever ask for. Check out their page.

Need to look at the SASS rules for what can and can't be used, including dress. I tried it at Tulsa, the guys there are very friendly and quick to let me shoot their stuff and even use their ammo. I would like to do it, just one more thing I don't have time for and the cost, trust me, these folks have some dollars wrapped up in playing. It is a fun time though.

I’ve got a 5 1/2” Ruger Vaquero in 44 mag I’d sell. Case hardened blue. I just shoot 44 spl out of it for lighter recoil.
