I asked Ron (ridurall on OSA) about this earlier. Yep. he is into Pest Control!

"Yes most definitely is an earwig. They normally live in decayed leaf matter and damp junk but this guy must have screwed up and accidently gotten inside and died from the residual poison or someone stepped on him. They are considered occasional invaders and not something that pest control guys bother to spray for. In other words they do
n’t set up housekeeping or are considered a commensal pest that lives with man. (like a cockroach) Also those things that look like pincers on the back of them can’t pinch or hurt you in anyway and they do not go in ears and lay eggs, EVER!" -- Ron

A pt presented to the ER in Tishomingo a dozen years ago with one of those in his ear, and the ER doc literally jumped when he saw it in there. The earwig tried to escape by going more deeply into the ear. Getting it out was no mean task. And it came out in pieces.
