The Fed is hardly an investor. And, yes, the Fed should not have been involved.
For the purposed of the bailout, that is exactly what the fed was. Which is why it was wrong.

I also noted this in the story:
"Akerson said that GM repaid all the debt issued by the government beginning in December 2008 when George W. Bush was still president and extending into the first year of Barack Obama's presidency."
The only problem with that statement is that it was (and still is) patently false. Even the government officials over the bailout had to admit that GM repaid those "initial" loans with money received from the government in later payments. Akerson was lying when he made that commercial way back then and it appears that he has convinced himself.
Wait--you were talking about GM, then you started talking about good trucks. Which one is it, man?GM makes a good product and employees Americans. I doubt anyone here would walk away from a brand new truck that was priced too good to be true because in then end you know its a good truck.

GM has made some good products in the past. Agree we never should have bailed them. FYI, I won't buy a Dodge or Chrysler.
Perhaps you missed the for the humor-impaired...Any truck made today is going to get what most of us need done. No truck is head and shoulders above the competition.
