St. Louis -- A suburban St. Louis high school teacher who appeared in a series of adult films in the mid-1990s has been placed on leave after informing administrators of her past.
The woman had also been suspended by a western Kentucky district in 2006 for the same reason.
In a statement, Missouri's Parkway School District says the teacher told her principal on Friday about her porn work and that a student had approached her about it.
The district says it granted her request to be placed on administrative leave for the rest of the school year.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Officials of a suburban St. Louis school district say they had no idea that a teacher hired four years ago had previously appeared in adult films.
A Parkway School District spokeswoman said Wednesday the teacher's previous employer - a Kentucky district - had said nothing about the woman losing her teaching job there because of her work in the porn industry.

The Missouri district said in a statement earlier this week that the teacher divulged her past to her principal Friday. The district says it accepted her request to be placed on administrative leave for the rest of the school year.

St. Louis media reports have identified her as Parkway North High School science teacher Tera Myers, and her Missouri teaching certificate shows she previously lived in Kentucky. Her phone rang unanswered Wednesday.

(CBS/KFVS) CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Missouri woman Tericka Dye resigned from her job as a high school science teacher after students learned that she was once porn star Rikki Andersin and appeared in X-rated films like "Tight A**."

Dr. Don Senti, interim superintendent of the Parkway School District in suburban St. Louis, confirmed to CBS affiliate KFVS that Dye asked to be placed on administrative leave for the remainder of the school year.


A statement from the Parkway School District says Dye's request came after a student asked her about her past, referring to the one or more pornographic movies Dye admitted to making while living in California in the mid-1990s.


The school agreed to accept Dye's request "out of respect for her privacy and that of her family." It also states Dye passed standard background and reference checks prior to being employed in August 2007.


Dye, a mother of four, came under fire in 2006 while working as a science teacher and volleyball coach at a high school in Kentucky. Teachers in Paducah stood by her when she was suspended with pay for the 2005-2006 school year and her contract was not renewed because the superintendent feared her presence would cause a distraction in the classroom.


Before leaving the high school, Dye said her decision more than a decade prior was the worst choice she'd ever made.


"I'm a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who's made a lot of bad decisions in life," Dye said in May of 2006. "Anybody who's been in my classroom could tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students, and that should be what matters more than anything in my past."


Dye's attorney announced in early 2007 that Dye had withdrawn an appeal of a ruling on a lawsuit she filed against the McCracken County School System and was leaving Kentucky. Her attorney declined to comment where she was headed.

I personally believe it's prudish and uncalled for, she did nothing illegal, she was in the army, got out did some porn, went back in got out did some more porn, went to school got her bachelors and education certificates. She has no criminal background or she wouldn't have gotten her teaching certificate in either state.
