Haha... The few times I have seen Plt Sgts or SL try to treat people like adults, it has always backfired. There is always one that ruins it.

Those of us that stood watch sure knew what it was. Up in the wee hours of the night. Also knew what balls to four was. For those that don't know, they probably didn't serve or never stood watch. Zero dark 30 was half after midnight. Thirty minutes after midnight

"Oh Dark Thirty" back in my day was slang for "too effin' early in the AM" and didn't really refer to a specific time. If I heard "Zero Dark Thirty" I'd have to figure out if it meant a half hour after midnight or it was just someone trying to be "mil-spec" without a clue ... I would never, ever have expected it to mean a half hour after sunset.
