Well, the weather outside sucks, snow is on the way, the grass is brown, and there's no leaves on the trees. To help brighten things up, I've decided I need to plan the first camping trip of the year so that I have something to look forward to.
Imagine this: it's mid-March. Things are starting to turn green. The temps are up to the mid 60's. You've got your truck loaded (tent camping) and a full tank of gas. Your cooler is stocked with BBQ ready goodies and plenty of beer. You are headed to a spot where you can camp next to a lake, relax in a chair, and enjoy the views. You want someplace that's not crowded, has plenty of shade, and is within a couple hundred miles of Tulsa. You don't like party spots or places with a hundred screaming kids running around like little banshees. You also want to ride your mountain bike around, so trails are a plus. You're going to be there for at least 2 nights, so you want a place with a decent shower. The million dollar question: what park would you go to?
I've been thinking about trying out Devil's Den in Arkansas. I've also heard good things about Robbers Cave in Wilburton, OK. Anyone have experience with these two? Any other suggestions that might fit the bill?
