Had a favorable wind last night, so thought I'd go out and give the pigs some hell. As usual, they were in their normal spot. This sounder of pigs would make a good case study in pig population. As much as I have been hunting them, the herd has only grown. For the first time, last night I saw at least two new litters of piglets in the group. There were over 20 football sized piglets out there runnin round.

First shot was on the biggest boar out of the group, I'd guess him a little under 200, good sized pig. I "thought" I shot him right in the neck, he dropped to the ground as soon as the bullet hit. Second shot got this sow.

As soon as she went down, the big boar I had shot first got up like nothing was wrong and took off running. He was in a bad spot for a follow up shot, so I had to let him walk. The herd took off back in the brush, the wind was still good for a second stalk, so I hoofed it around to my second ambush spot. As predicted, they came out right where I thought they would and I took this sow.

Went to the third ambush spot and had to wait a few minutes, so I started crawling through a briar tunnel to get in a shooting position. Looked up and a piglet popped out in the tunnel about 15 yards in front of me. Right after that a sow is standing behind the piglet. I am in the thickest of the thick, there are pigs in about three directions all grunting and rustling around, and I realize I only have one bullet left. Figured I better use it on this sow before the situation turns turns south. I shot her right in the face and she bolts through the brush a few steps and I heard her go down and start squealing. Didn't want to push my luck with no bullets, so I backed on out. It was quite the action packed hunt and I was able to take out three sows. Just gotta remember to take more bullets next time!

Looks like you had a good hunt. I'm sure that you got your heartbeat up when you realized you were out of ammo.

Damn straight! Had it not been for all the little piglets running around it may not have been that big of a deal. But seems like a lot of the attacks happen when you get between a sow and her lil uns. Plus the fact that there were 40+ pigs within 20 yards chompin teeth, grunting, and I was on my belly in a tunnel of briars with no visibility. Who needs drugs (or Charlie Sheen!) when a pig can provide that kind of adrenaline!
