American terrorists?

According to dictionary.com terrorism is defined as the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes

Isn't this what our government is doing to Iran? I mean, we have their borders completely flanked by US bases, we have instilled multiple trade sanctions and embargos, and we're theatening to blow them up if they don't do what we want. Isn't that terrorism based on the definition we established?

One difference between the US and Iran or what we would normally define as a terrorist, is that they target innocent civilians while we generally aim for the govt. of said country. I do agree with you in not needing another conflict with Iran. Just let Israel take care of their own business and let's mind ours.

Notice I said "generally". Also, that was in a very different time than now. Hell, I'm not sure we would retaliate with nukes to a nuke attack on us nowadays. Also noteworthy, based upon the Okinawa campaign, estimates of casualties on an invasion of Japan were in excess of 1,000,000.
