I'm just looking for opinions here, I'm trying to pick one out and I want to make sure I consider them all. So in your opinion what is the finest 22LR revolver ever produced? Looking for a production gun here, not a one of a kind custom piece or something along those lines.

I think they are all about equally well. Not much you can mess up on a .22 revolver. I have an RG that could shoot accurate out to 30-40 yrds. However, i think one of the best ones are the older ruger .22

Ruger Single Six is a great choice. Has the option of using .22 mag as well. If you dont care for the .22 mag cylinder get the Single Ten for less reloading.

If you don't want single action only I'd go for the Smith and Wesson 617 but they're a bit higher.

Those are probably two of the highest regarded production .22s.

If you dont care how much you spend, i think the BEST is a Freedom Arms 97 or 83 in .22 with a match cylinder. I read a review where the guy was getting 1" groups out to 100 yards, and under 1/4" groups at 25 yards... Insane! But so is the price @ a little over 2 grand new.

For a bit more sane of a budget the Ruger Single Six and S&W 617 are really nice. I really want to pick one up soon!

I think the older S&W K22 is supposed to be super nice too if you can ever find one.

Yeah, I'm not really willing to put a ceiling on price just yet but it's safe to say that is outside my budget. It would be silly for me to purchase a gun tuned to that level anyway, my shooting mechanics would greatly restrict its capabilities.

Hard to beat a S&W K-22 revolver. 6" barrel is my preference. 2nd choice, or is it first, is a Model 18, which is the same thing, but in a 4" barrel. Both are accurate and enjoyable to shoot.
