Is it 3 phase, or 220? If it is 3 you will need a 3 phase generator. Get on 3 times the HP rating of your lathe motor. Those Chinese motors have a huge current draw to start. I have a 10 HP generator for mine. Don't use the solid state one either.

If it is regular 220, disregard all I typed!

Don't leave in the chuck key!!!

Oooo! Level it soon!

Whatcha gonna make????

Thanks Dave for the info. This one is 220 a unit. I am going to get it leveled after I get power to it. Just in case I got to move it again. I hope I don't, but you never know.

Right now I am going to do Barrel Threading, and a few small things with it. The guy I got it from wants to contract out to him to make some money on the side. Before I do that, I got to get some scrap so I can play around with it. I have not ran one in over ten years. So its kinda new to me.
Now you will not see to many cool things come out yet, but next summer I am going to try to get a CNC Mill going and then I will be pushing out the toys.

If you don't have someone on it already pm me and I can probably help you out on wiring.

Thank you, but as now I think my grand dad will be over Friday, or Sat. to wire it in for me. He said its not far from the box and should be a very easy job. We will find out this weekend.

Your best bet with 3phase motors on single phase supply is to go with a VFD... plus it adds neat features like torque limiting, negates most of the inrush current, and gives you the ability to change speads electrically. Capacitor-based phase converters are just too unreliable.
