I was going to stop. I will not further debate this issue, but I do want to thank you for the compliment. Strom Thurmond was a fine man who actually fathered a child with a black house servant and took responsibility for her. He did not try to get the woman to get an illegal abortion, which would have probably been pretty easy back then.

Once again thanks. Being compared to the late great senator from South Carolina makes my day. Much better than being compared to Barack Hussein Obama.

Black house servant? You use that word because it implies a lesser status than maid. Why not jus say "house n-word"?

You are a racist.

I don't think you get kudos for taking responsibility for your own child, that is what your ARE SUPPOSED TO DO! Also, you don't get kudos for bangin' the maid. That does not a fine man make my acquaintance.

Let's bring this fun thread back! There is still an issue I haven't resolved to my satisfaction.

Once again, I don't believe I've ever suggested using force or violence (other than the force of law, of course).

Why do you make the exception for force of law? How does it make it any different morally if guys with fancy hats or badges or arm bands are doing the forcing, rather than regular folks? This is kind of elementary, but you do realize that every law is backed up by a threat of force against those who disobey it, right?

Jonah, like others have mentioned, I appreciate your ability to share your opposition to what many refer to as the "gay agenda" without being a complete prick, even though I disagree with about 98% of what you said.

I appreciate the mods for allowing this thread to stay above water this long. We get to know each other a lot better without censorship and this thread has allowed some true colors to shine, for good and for bad. However, for the most part, people have stayed mature in their arguments and I hope this becomes a trend moving forward with all future discussions on the new and improved OSA.

I think the way it works for a lot of people is this:

"When the power and authority of the state is employed to achieve a social outcome I find desirable it's for the common good".
"When the power and authority of the state is employed to achieve a social outcome I object to it's called tyranny".

We have lots of social engineers right here on this forum out to engage the government in protecting us from ourselves.

Kind'a like the buttload of politicians who claim to support the 2nd amendment but don't - because either they're lying or don't really understand it, there are a buttload of folks on OSA who claim to be pro-freedom but aren't - either because they're lying or don't really understand what freedom is.

Yep, there has been some good gentlemanly discussion here. I also hope that we can have more of this sort of thing in the future.

I've seen a lot of discussions on controversial subjects go well for quite a while until one or two buttheads jump in and get it locked down. Sadly it only takes a few to make it appear as if the majority can't have a rational discussion on anything. And nationally, those buttheads are the ones on the news all the time.

You forgot the third group. Some of us live and raise our families on Christian based principles. To me, this is vastly more important than "earthly" power and authority!
