So the wife and I are looking to move into a bigger house this spring since we have two young babies and are running out of room for everything we have. We currently live in S. OKC off of 134th which is right in the middle off everything we need, but also in the middle of tons of traffic and neighbors.

I understand you would prob need to know a lot of different factors before deciding where to live, but just wondering what you guys have enjoyed more in your life, living in the city in a neighborhood, or living out miles away where you don't always see someone when you come home.

I live pretty far out in the boonies and wouldn't trade it for anything. There are some positive sides to living in a city; you are closer to any emergency service, groceries, etc. However, that's a sacrifice that I'm willing to make for being able to do whatever I want, whenever I want, wherever I want. I wake up in the middle of the night cussing the whip-poor-will outside my window that won't shut up...but that beats a train or siren any day.

I could never see myself living in a claustrophobic suburban environment....I'm very content. I also know that my children agree with me, there really is no life other than the country for us.

Some people enjoy living in town, being able to wave at your neighbors from your deck to theirs. The ability to "run to the store" or "run to Taco Bueno" can be quite satisfying. I've lived that life. One schizophrenic neighbor in Stillwater was all I needed to reinforce the hatred I have for my fellow man/neighbors. So, for the past ten years, we've lived 4 miles from pavement. The house sits 1/4 mile off the road. The only traffic we hear is in the air. From my house, you can see no other house. The gate at the top of the driveway stays closed. In ten years, we've had no solicitors. Not one uninvited visitor. This is living, for me.

Like somebody else said in another thread, my friends say they are coming to my place when the wheels fall off. I tell them they better come early, before I close the roads.

I just hope I never have neighbors again.

Moved from San Diego, typical beach community, with small postage stamp size lots. We now live just outside the city limits where there are 4 homes, each on 2 acres, and surrounded by farms. We absolutely love living away from the beaten path. Californians that come to visit cant believe how big 2 acres are (would have more land if we could), and Oklahomans just smile. I vote for the country

The ability to hear the birds singing, and nothing else sealed the deal for me.
I can shoot when I want.
I can piss out in the back yard when I want.
I can jump in the pool buck nekkid when I want.
I don't have to weed eat unless I want to.
I don't have to keep my lawn up to "standards"
I could go on, but you get my drift.

Close enough that if something happens I can make it to a hospital before I bleed out. Far enough out the houses aren't stacked on top of each other. The lots in my neighborhood vary between .5 acres to about 10 acres. Most are 1 or 5 acre lots. I live on just over 1 acre. No HOA, well water, paved roads and cable. I wish I had 5 or 10 acres, but I love the location.

I recently bought a 1 3/4 acre lot in Nicoma Park that I may build on.

I want to move out to the country eventually. I hate people. I grew up in a small town and couldn't wait to move to the big city, but the older i get, the more I miss it.

I just bought a house in Moore, in a much better neighborhood than I'm in now (del city ghetto). Goal is to get debt free in the next 10 years, then find some land and build my dream home on at least 10 acres some place.
