I'll just leave this here....

I prefer to stay away from areas that these people tend to congregate. Unfortunately, Stillwater is a popular college for hipsters.

LOL... saw that coming. Fan of glove and boots, btw. One of the few youtube channels I look forward to anytime they release a new video.

Annoying younger kids adopting the hipster craze aside, I would assume most here would identify more with the older "hipsters." Mostly libertarian and pro gun, very self sufficient and community oriented. If a zombie apocalypse happened, most of these people would be the only ones around as most of these people are already living halfway off the grid with their own solar power and greenhouse gardens and watering systems.

Most of the people on here would be dead, just like everybody else. There would likely be about a 5% survival rate from just about any pathogen or event that would cause a zombie apocalypse.

Yet another reason to live outside the city.

I lived on 5 acres up until 3 years ago. Too much work .

There is that factor. Increased acreage = increased work. Instead of a push mower, you have to buy a ZTR or Garden tractor, IF you want to maintain that big lawn the expenses for fertilizer and weed preventer can get pricy, and the list goes on.

I'd look at school districts first off and go from there. You can get a little of both somewhere like Edmond or Deer creek. Anywhere North of Covell and West of Western would be ideal for me. Far, but not too far, and top notch schools.

ZTR has definitely kept me outside of town.
Getting it ready for another mowing season.

I agree. I'm north of Waterloo and west of Kelly. We enjoy the prospect of Edmond schools but enjoy even more the many choices of private schools nearby.

I see a Mojack! I love mine too!

Another expense for living in the country.....I use the front end loader from the tractor. Block up the bucket for safety if having to work under a suspended load.

I've been living in the country for most of my life, and never knew how much assistance in everyday things could be accomplished with a smaller tractor with a front loader. Can't live without it now.

No kidding. We live on a plot in between too small for one and justifying one. The acre and a quarter just doesn't justify the upfront cost and maintenance for us; however, if we lived on two and a half I'd be cruising one for sure!

Lived in Tulsa most of my life and moved out in 1995. Phone service and internet service can be challenging and expensive in the country. We are 15 miles from the nearest loaf of bread or jug of milk. Took some neighbors 21 miles to the nearest Chilies this evening for dinner. I mow 5 acres, back yard with a 60' finish cut on a John Deer, front with 102 trees with a Dixon zero turn. Looks like a park when I get finished. It is 30 miles to a bar with decent live music, 35 miles to Lowe's etc. We would not consider moving back to the city, too many pleasant advantages to living in the country, hot tub, pool, backyard fires, and no close neighbors. Have to get rid of a skunk or armadillo every once in a while.
