I'm really getting a kick out of watching all ya'll getting into Milsurps and enjoying it. I spent many years doing what you're doing now and really miss it. I made the decision to get out of Milsurp collecting several years back. It probably was not a good decision, but it's too late to cry over it now. One of these days, I'm gonna sit down and try to make a list of all the rifles I had. I'm a glutton for punishment.

Anyway, ya'll keep posting and I'll keep enjoying.

I had 5 Mosin carbines at once; M38 (2), M44, M91-59 and M91-38. They were all hoots to shoot. One of the M38's was very accurate compared to the other 4. I have no idea why I didn't keep the 91-38, at least.

I've been wanting to pick up one to start shooting some of the matches at Red Castle. What would you recommend as the most accurate?

In bolt actions, either a Swiss K31 or a Swedish M96, or maybe a Finnish M39; those consistently place well at the matches. In a semi-auto, perhaps a M1 Garand with hand loads tailored specifically to your particular rifle.

As for Ronny's OP, I know the feeling about having let go of a collection of milsurps. My own collection was considerably bigger in years past, but I've downsized quite a bit. No more Mosins, or SKS's, or Japanese rifles or German Mausers, etc.

Perplexed answered the accuracy question exactly as I would.

Swiss K-31s and Swede M96s can both be had in the $300-$350 range. Both are really hard to beat. The 6.5x55 Swede round still lives on today in a few modern rifles.
