M1A Socom 16

I am thinking I want a M1A in 308. Has anyone here owned the SA Socom. I saw one today it seemed like it handled well. I have never shot or owned one. Any thoughts. It will not be used for anything in particular. Just to plink with. Maybe shoot a hog.

Ohh and what is a good price.

I considered it but the 16" barrel balances so well. Feels awesome. It would be a nice packing rifle.

I think if I were going for a shortened M14 style rifle I'd be very tempted by LRB's M25 Tanker (fifth rifle down).

Love my M1A scout. Killed several hogs with it. I found a good deal on mine. I wouldn't give more than 1500 for a new one. You can find good deals on a used one.

I found a Socom for 1500 with a $450+ optic mounted to it. Gun still has hang tags hanging off it.

Buy it!! Even used, $1500 is a good price for a Socom 16 and the optic is icing on the cake. I love mine, wouldn't trade it for anything, and it is an absolute blast to shoot (no pun intended)! It's about the most fun-to-shoot gun I've ever owned.
