There's no way that was the retail price for a SOCOM 16, unless they just mismarked it.

Nope, it was the real deal. If they mismarked it, that guy was super lucky.

I wonder if it was a consignment?

BNIB, I've never seen the BX gunshop do consignment. Not like you can bring in your gun anyway.

Whatever feels right to you when you are shooting is what you should get. If I recall, the velocity loss on a 16" v. 18" barrel in .308 is around 100fps. I happened to like the 18" better than the 16" and ended up with a Springfield Armory Scout. I have an EOTech and a Bradley Cheek Rest on it .... HIGHLY recommend the Bradley. Great company to work with and a SOLID product.
