I think you are confused. This section would be only be accessible by members who ask for permission. You do not have to disguise your thread title so that only certain members would open it.

That's what I meant, there's a probablity that some members would not ask for permission and a potential that a large number of members would not ask permission to access that section.

Even if all accessed the section, what topics would be appropriate to open in that section and not in any other section.

It just depends on what the future vision for OSA is. If we want to maintain a family-oriented community where women and kids feel welcome, an "adult-only" forum will only hurt us. Kids can get around any checks we have, so that will always be an issue. If you want a community that is focused on shooting, 2nd amendment issues, hunting, fishing, etc.; it just never works as planned. The argument that "if you don't want to see it, don't go in there" always ends up in conflicts between members, effectively splitting the community into "this group" and "THAT group". If an "adult" forum is created, you might as well change the name of OSA to HOWG...Horny Old White Guys...because most everyone else won't feel welcome, and they just won't participate in the normal forums. I don't see the purpose of it when (a) there's a million other sites to have access and share that content, and (b) it creates an atmosphere that is unwelcoming to certain demographics. We can't have it both ways, so what kind of community do you want at OSA?

I have no objection to this idea. Let's gorge ourselves on no-holds-barred obscenity. Won't take long for people to get bored with it. Then it'll be back to the same old same old.

Naaaaaaa it works, has on other sites. I have belonged and mod since 1999 one of the most very family friendly motorcycle riding websites that has an average of 400 to 600 members active every day, total membership of just shy of 50k members. The so called "Hotbox" is what saved that site. It provided a closed area to let it hang all out, politics, religion, anything goes, no rules. It kept and keeps the rest of the board clean and on focus of the individual topic areas. It simply works.

If you don't let grown adults be grown adults in one non constricted area, they tend to get bored, start shying away, and the site starts down a slow spiral death of non posts and inactivity. The "Hotbox" keeps all the arguing about above said subjects in one place and not all over the board. It works.

I tend to agree with this ... the fact of the matter is our demographic here is not the 65 and older spinster ladies Sunday School class group ...

I personally think a place for those guys who want to, to let their hair down, would be a good thing. Although I'm a bit leery of the "no rules at all" thing. You guys can be awful hormonal at times ... a few guidelines, even for a forum with a bit more freedom, would probably be a good thing.

First off, horney old black, latino and asian guys should be allowed in too.

Second, I am personally not looking for pictures of chicks. I would however, like a place where I could call Lurker and Iggy "$^@^@/@&$ @^^#&@&#*$ liberals #^#^@&@&" without a kid from a tee ball team I coach seeing it.

Funny thing is, its not just scantily clad women that is forbidden. I also think you fail to realize, this would not be an area accessible to everybody. Just like your "moderator section", not everybody can see that area. YukonGlocker this area is an area you wouldn't have to see. You know you can't complain about your neighbor cleaning house in the nude, if you are peeking in the windows to see it. I started a poll, so we can see participants opinions.
