I'm not an attorney, but I'm pretty sure that the SDA allows you to defend another if there is reasonable fear of death.

I believe this is what you are looking for:

Oklahoma Statutes (O.S.)

Title 21. Penal Code

§ 21-1289.25 PHYSICAL OR DEADLY FORCE AGAINST INTRUDER

D. A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

This section would also give you the legal right to shoot due to an armed robbery being a forcible felony as far as I understand it. It does not require you to do so and not being an attorney I can not say it is the "correct" thing to do.

I have not read it in about 3 years, but I've been to the class twice and read the SDA book front to back a few times. It lists who you are allowed to defend. It states family like mother, father, sister, etc. and even employer (sadly, not employee) and wife, husband, child, etc. Unless they have changed the SDA lately, you are not legally free and clear to intervene on the behalf of a stranger. You may get off.. you may not. A jury may convict you, they may not. Now, if you inadvertantly have the robber turn and face you because you cleared your throat or acidentaly dropped a bag of chips on the floor, hey, now he is a threat to you. Start blasting. If you are caught on camera lining up your sights on the back of his head before he is a threat to you, you'll likely be playing canasta with that pharmacy owner doing time for pasting a guy that was no longer a threat to him. If you are not a cop, you are not free and clear to engage a criminal simply because he is doing something to somebody else.

Really, clerk is in fear of their life and I figured he wouldn't leave any witnesses. It absolutely lets you intervene.

I'll take my chances that the last thing he hears is the hammer drop.

If you want to risk the rest of your life in prison, separated from all those you love (because you stepped outside the protection of the SDA), good on you. Me? If a stranger has chosen not to arm them self, I'll be f***ed if I'm risking my freedom and family for them. I value my family and my freedom much more highly than that. I'd just a soon abide by the law, like every self appointed conservative.

This is the section emphasized to us in the couple SDA classes I took. The first lines point out a threat to you. It does not give you the free and clear to ease up behind someone and put a bullet in their head. You can do it, but you may suffer consequences you didn't expect. If you want the law on your side, especially if you are on a store's security camera, the jury must see the perps attention and likely aggression turned on you, or a family member, etc. as listed in the SDA.

Do like Charles Bronson did in the movies. Ask him if he knows Jesus. Then tell him he is about to meet Him. Then shoot him in the head!

Of course you don't have to do anything...you said.."not allowed"
Nightshade cleared that up
Thank You
All it takes for evil to prevail, is for Good men to do nothing

Exactly. You've got lots of good, good people deciding not to arm and defend themselves and their family. They decide to do nothing. To me they are the epitome of those who do nothing in the face of evil. I'm not willing to risk my family, my life, my freedom for someone who knowingly and with forethought decide every day to not arm and defend them self and their family. They make their decission, I make mine.

I did 20 years in the military. Every single day I was sworn to take up a weapon and defend whoever my government told me to defend, anywhere in the world. With my life if need be. That was my place in life. I'm no longer in the military, nor am I a cop. I know my place in this world and in this society. I'm no cowboy of Hollywood notions. I take care of me and mine. I can't do that rotting away in prison after having persued some over glorified notion. I strive to live within the law. I will step outside the law if it means protecting me and mine. If someone choses to not take full advantage of what's provided by law to protect them self and their own, well, they have made their choice. And I've made mine.
