Emotional support animals have no protection or recognition of any kind under federal law as far as I know.

Now, SERVICE animals are a whole different ballgame, and last I checked, only dogs and miniature horses qualified under the ADA. They also require special training and certification which is extensive and expensive.

Emotional support animals are usually just someone's regular pet they threw some kind of vest on, and may or may not have a letter from a doctor. But zero training or utility.

Didn't say anything about 100%.

Some are considerably more effective than others. Most are wearing cloth masks, which are garbage. I mean if he is going to guilt trip someone, he'd better understand the science behind what he's wearing. Who knows... maybe he was wearing an N95?

My RN sister and all my doctors say a cloth mask is better than nothing and more effective than the nay sayers are making it out to be. They all say wearing a mask helps.

That's awesome, lots of CYA out there right now and unknowns. Anecdotes are fun for sure. My wife is a CCRN and is on the front lines. The Director of Infectious diseases at her hospital said most cloth masks are garbage too. BUT..... there's a pretty smart physician out there that does podcasts and YT vids that I follow. He IS relaying that there MIGHT be some support for even cloth masks restricting the amount of viral load that one takes in, causing a less severe infection. No studies yet obviously, but I can't argue with that, seems you'd have to be symptomatic to have a severe viral load though.

In the end, do not conflate me pointing out hypocrisy in someone barking at the OP, for being anti-mask.

Shawnee is mandating that we have to wear masks when out in public. Well I don’t. Nobody has said a word and I’ve seen numerous other folks not doing it. Yesterday I went to Braums and I was standing in line talking to this older man ( who was very friendly) when all the sudden this other older man butted in and said “did you know the city has a mandate that you have to wear masks”? I said no sarcastically. Then he says “do you not care if you kill someone because you ain’t wearing a mask”? I said I ain’t killing nobody and I ain’t sick. He said “ have you been tested”? I said yes sarcastically and then he says “I doubt very seriously you have”. Then the nice older man says “ I have seen so many fights over this mask thing”. By that time I was pissed and I turned to that jerk old man and said “ I ain’t a puppet that does whatever the government says. I’m a free freaking citizen and I’ll do what I want”. He turned around and acted like he was looking at some food. I guess he thought I would just take whatever he had to say. I know I didn’t act the way a Christian should act and I have repented of it but I was fuming mad. I don’t get mad like that very often. It’s people like that, that get themselves killed or beat to a pulp. Hopefully he keeps his mouth shut now. People are so ridiculous.

You should feel guilty. You may have already killed that poor man.

Not talking about what you take in. Mask help most with what you expel. My docs all say that even a cloth mask will help catch droplets you sneeze or cough out. This is important because a lot of people get infected and do not show symptoms for awhile, but may still sneeze and cough. I know nothing short of a full hazmat suit is 100% effective at protecting you but containing as much of it as possible to the infected protects us all. That is why I wear a mask. My lung condition means I do cough a lot and I refuse to spread anything I might get to others.

And I was not meaning to conflate you pointing out hypocrisy, just stating a fact. Many docs say almost any mask helps.

This is all true but social media has conflated the meaning of the law so much laypersons are terrified to confront anyone about their abuse of it so ... I figure if that fear works for them and they can take Fido in the restaurant and set him on the table unchallenged (true story) I figure I can use it to not wear a mask ... Those things absolutely throw me into a seizure. For reasons that you old guys know all about I'm not gonna have a stroke -- literally -- so some Karen who will NOT BACK THE **** UP OFF ME and hasn't washed her hands all day can get some feelgoods.

This is true... lots of people have ZERO idea what a service animal is, and they think claiming their pet peacock is an emotional support bird gives them some kind of legal protections.

The derp is strong in the world today...

When Wal*Mart( or anyone else) gives me medical advice (Telling me to wear a mask) I believe they have crossed the threshold to become de facto "Medical Providers". Now, how does that fit in with HIPPA rules?

Under your bed
I have only worn a mask once and that was to my Dr. office.
I went in wal mart and they were standing there at the door to make sure mask were on everyone entering and I walked towards the door and proceded to put my mask on as I walked through the entrance, once inside I put the mask in my pocket and no one said a word to me after that.
I later went in a liquor store that had signage of wearing a mask to enter, which I admit I didnt see. I proceeded to shop for 5 minutes then went to check out. As he was ringing my order up he said "for future visits, you'll need to wear a mask in this store"
I said I dont wear masks, he said its the law. I said no, our legislative branch votes laws in and then the Governor must sign them before they are law. That didnt happen and the Mayor has no right to single handedly create a law. He said, well its store policy.
I said would you like me to leave then or pay for this liquor? He said oh no you dont have to leave, I said Oh, your policy has a price tag? And I said, I wont be visiting this store again.
He had nothing more to say
