I'm just talking about the folks around here who were posting the meme. I don't think any of them were being intentionally misleading, someone just made a mistaken assumption, and then it snowballed (ha?) from there.

And as often happens, no one would admit the mistake, but they did seem to double down on the lie when confronted.

• Aid to California during wildfires because "they didn't vote for {him})
• Coronavirus tools like ventilators to WA/MI because the governors weren't nice to him.

On the other hand, Biden approved the disaster request immediately without once asking people to grovel. It was whether or not you like Biden, I think it was refreshing that it was done so boringly.

People tend to forget man has been harnessing the wind for eons, and used it for power well before fossil fuels. Also, windmills exist in cold areas yet don't have the problems tx has. We live in the Saudi Arabia of wind, to try to not hardness that for power is just dumb. To only try to depend on that is also dumb.

TX wasn't depending on wind generation for this anyway, it's a complete red herring. Tx is a cluster of their own making. Half their production from coal, nuclear, and natural gas plants was down for various reasons. A big one being they couldn't get natural gas to the plants, and didn't store much reserve at plants. They didn't winterize their freaking pipes, they learned nothing from 2011. They also didn't winterize their wind generators or most other power plants.

Props can work in winter, otherwise, air planes couldn't fly most the time, much less at high altitudes. Deicing was solved a very long time ago. Tx chose not to use it.

I'm just glad TX isn't on the grid with SPP. Their problem would have been our problem.

Chuck Norris would have round house back kicked the storm... Easy to play the "coulda woulda otta what if" game that helps no one. My chuck norris plan has a better chance of working than trump saving the day, when not president, a job he pretty much abandoned after the election.

My fear is republicans don't get their dova together and move past this idolatry of trump nonsense. Until that happens, Dems are going to rule. Reps are in a catch 22, don't bow to trump you lose, but also trump will never win again. He's alienated way too many republicans and non republicans alike. Okay, so then why are utilities spending money on it? Especially in Texas. ERCOT is a small group with no federal regulation, free from all the crap right? So if wind and solar were all wasted money, why then, is Texas the leading wind producer in the country? A superweight in the US oil industry, but also the wind leader. Why?

Maybe they are "investing" in wind and solar because of the government subsidies?

Without question? You want to ignore the demonstrated past history where aid was withheld in previous disasters by someone and then say without question that he'd be on top of this one? When the facts are that the current administration got the request for a disaster declaration Saturday and approved it Sunday. No delay, on the weekend.

This is what is killing the GOP. Literally it's going to split it in two and cannibalize itself. Most all information that I've seen shows the country getting more and more blue with higher and higher percentages of the young, the educated, and people of all ethnic backgrounds trending blue. One reason is because they are not buying the lies, the disinformation, the whatever you want to call it. The attitude you describe is one that is not going to be a winning strategy because it will only serve to galvanize the other side in the long run, and then the GOP will lose by the numbers. The winning strategy would be to develop a better policy platform and win hearts and minds with honesty and integrity.
