I find it ironic that the greatest concentration of the most uninformed people I have had interactions with is via the greatest facilitator of knowledge the world has ever known.

Those the commentary above applies to oddly enough think they are well informed or educated about issues they probably shouldn't opine on .

Yeah, my ranch is in one of the poorest least populated counties in the state. I went checking some places that don’t get a lot of eye time. Three houses on a seven mile road and while I’m unlocking the gate the new neighbor right across the road walks over and hits me up for permission to hunt. He’s from Cali, has never hunted and was to give it a go. I’m not going to curse him out of hand, but I’m keeping an eye on him.

Kind of gives me pause when I see Pennsylvania and New York plates just cruising around in the middle of the bojacks. I really need to work out my crazed hillbilly routine...

At least he ask for permission BEFORE stepping onto your land. Gotta give him that!

The tire of the lifted truck (Texas) rubbed up against my niece’s step board, they were coming up to a stop light…my niece was getting into the turning lane when the woman thought she would just go around her.

You know what the difference was in the dust bowl concerning Okies ( a term that applied to people from all over the region back then ) going to California for work and now? The majority of those migrant workers came straight back to the old sold when dust bowl ended .When you reference those native Californians , New Yorkers , etc today. They voted for and got the government they wanted. Then when the government they wanted starting doing things they ask it to do, they decided it was too much of a good thing and left to find max freedom again .


The problem is you can take the liberal out of a blue state but you can't take the blue state out of the liberal. I say this again as I said it in another thread even people that label themselves "conservative" in a blue state tend to be very liberal when compared to the red state measuring stick. I met more than a few who said I am Republican and yet advocated for some very leftist policies . They just weren't as leftist as their Democrat counterparts who when running for local office often times will even say in their campaign ads I am more socialist than the other socialist I am running against .

It's closer to the fact that after finding good paying jobs and experiencing a better lifestyle (than dirt farming) in places like California, very few people that fled the Oklahoma 'Dust Bowl' returned to the State after the crisis ended. By the time that happened many had jobs in the ship-building, aircraft, and munition factories swhich were booming at the start of, and during, World War II.
Most of the 'Dust Bowl' refugees returning back to Oklahoma only did so upon retirement or when their 'fixed-income' could not cover the ever-rising cost of living and daily expenses of California.

I moved here from Virginia about a year ago. Got sick of Yankees moving down and wrecking it. Turned Charlottesville. my nice town and home of my alma mater UVA, to 95% blue in a few years. 95%. FJB

Oklahoma folks remind me of how Virginia was 60 years ago, people look you in the eye and say hello. Down home folks. I do hear that Norman has gone a bit, ummmmm, sideways. Great gun laws, or lack there of though. The one place I find lacking, at least here in Lawton, is medical care.

Glad to be here and a part of this good site.

As for Texans, I'd SOONER, be in Oklahoma.

I'll have to disagree having known too many people in my family and otherwise who came back and many before 1941 . There was a war industry all over the US not just the west and east coasts .


Let me edit to add the term Okie referred to the people who were fleeing the region during the dust bowl from 1935-40 its recorded that 250,000 Okies fled from Oklahoma, Texas , Arkansas and Missouri . Not that 250,000 Oklahomans fled ..
