How long do you have to be here before you are no longer a transplant? I moved here from Va. in 1978.

In SE Oklahoma you'd never not be an outsider , at least not from the parts I hailed from. Now Central Okla is way more accommodating . Still its pretty clanish when you get east and south of McAlester .

500 acres down the highway from me is under contract, price $2.5 million.

Buddy had it leased for deer hunting, paid his lease money then found out a month later that the owners are selling the place. He will not get his lease money back until the place closes, yet is not allowed back onto the property until the sale closes or falls thru.

Its a mess.

The buyers are going to put in a pot farm, yaaaaaa us, more weed.

I am ok with Liberals leaving Oklahoma for blue states , good riddance . I am dubious of the claims conservatives are coming here from blue states though .
I will tell you they are. Move to OK 2 years ago from your favorite place, CA. Wife is born and raised in Sapulpa. We met at OSU in the mid 90's. Before we moved to OK I joined three FB groups with one being called Moving to Oklahoma. Currently has 6600 members. The vast majority of posts/members are strong conservatives and all they want is to be left alone by the govt, enjoy their freedoms and enjoy a slower pace of life. Everything that you want living in OK and the reason you love OK, they want as well. I'm of the opinion, and have seen first hand, that liberals are not moving to OK to get away from CA and their policies. The vast majority of liberals don't hate CA enough to pick up and move and when they do it's typcially to another blue state like WA, OR or the like. They typically don't want to move out to the country on acreage and start raising livestock, etc, etc. More than you think, what they (conservatives in blue states) want out of life is probably very similar to what your want out of your life.

In the last election for OK Govenor hoffmeister got 42% of the vote. Stitt still won by about 12-14 points. My point is 42% of Oklahomans voted blue in the last election. This wasn't because of liberals moving to OK from blue states. This 42% liberal base is an Oklahoma home grown issue not some fantasy caused by blue staters. Look a bit closer to home in your kids in middle schools, high schools and some of your universities (looking at you Norman) for the rising ills of liberalism in your beloved state.

Drive in Tulsa. Light turns green and let the red light runners get through first. Light turns red, intersection blocked by left turning cars that don’t know to stop when no where to go. Driving on freeway doing speed limit and get passed by everyone but grandpa. Try to keep safe distance from car in front and five cars will get in front of you. Can’t tell difference in drivers no matter the tag. I just stay in the slow lane and stay out of the way.:anyone:

You left out the MERGE LANE. Leaving OKC, today. Stuck behind a 20 yo, sitting in turn lane, on his phone. Left turn arrow goes green. He sits, car behind me, starts honking. He continues with his phone. Finally, looks up and proceeds at snail pace. I get the yellow, about half way through. Several run the red.

Idiot hits merge lane, to get on I-44. Never gets above 30 mph, hits signal and pulls into traffic lane. Brakes lock up. 1 serves into merge lane, in front of me. (I am laying back to have room to accelerate.) Catch azzwipe before the next exit, never gets above 45 and is riding the left lane.

Traffic in Dallas is horrible, but they know how to merge. Most around here believe they have the right-of-way.

The home grown blue comes from the "my grand dad was democrat, my daddy was a democrat, I am a democrat" mindset.

Point out to them when they call republicans racist, which party fought to end slavery and which party fought to keep it, then watch as the "I am now offended for life" treatment starts.

I mean sheesh it gets old fast.

I like living here for the most part, I know first hand there are worse places, but sometimes I just want to pack it all up and leave.
