Great suggestion. Pretty sure there’s even laws about driving on tires more than xxxx years old.
Went to Discount Tire the other day, didn't have the cash for a new tire and asked them to put the new condition spare on and they refused cause the date code said it was over 10 years old.

Hello all, I recently inherited a real cherry 1991 Chevy pickup from my grandfather with 87k original miles on it and I’m gonna be driving it from OKC to Conway, AR to my mom’s house. I plan on putting new tires on it, getting it tuned up, fluids topped off, brakes checked, etc. The truck has been well maintained all its life and I currently drive it all over the OKC metro and it never skips a beat. It should be ok to make the trip, right?
check that serpentine belt. Maybe replace IF you dont know its age or see cracks. I have my grandpas 69 chevy and 73 chevy pickups that would probably fire up with low effort. But as farm trucks with low miles. lol they are HARD miles

I believe the 8 lug 2500s were 95 and up but I could be mistaken.
almost ALL 2500's up untill 2011 were 8x6.5 bolt pattern Ford had some "heavy halfs" that kept the 6x5.5 pattern but were considered 2500's But have never heard of a chevy heavy half. 8 lug is 2500 6 lug is 1500 from 88 and up on pickups

wait. im getting old.

4x4's were 6x139.7 or 6x5.5

4x2's were 5x127 or 5x5

2500's were 8x165.1 or 8x6.5

duallys were 8x165.1 or 8x6.5

I thought 95 was the changeover year from 6 to 8 lug on the 2500s.

If you want to get even stranger. My 94 is a 350TBI with a 4L60 transmission. Notice there is no "E" on that. It's a transitional model.
The 92 is a 350TBI and a 700r4.
