Replacing a valve cover gasket on a RAV4 & will also be replacing the PCV valve. Anybody use tape on the valve threads, or the RTV red/black silicone gasket stuff, or nothing?
Tnx

I would just screw it in without anything if it has a decent amount of threads, but a little RTV on the threads won't hurt anything.

Never sieze? Dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion but I don't know what either are made of. There really shouldn't be enough pressure to bypass the threads.

I only asked cause I was watching a video on the valve cover gasket & the guy mentioned he always puts tape on the pcv valve threads when changing. I’ve never used anything before

Never siezed. I cleaned it at 50k & will again at 100k when I change the valve cover gasket. The valve cover is aluminum, unknown what the pcv metal is. Toyota 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine

It is a vent and there shouldn’t be enough pressure inside to blow it out. If pressure builds up enough with the anti-seize on the valve you have bigger compression problems. Sit it back in there and let it vent. You can clean them with alcohol or electronics cleaner like the MAF sensor instead of buying a new one, I know they are cheap but sounds like you do good work and I’ve cleaned my sensors for years on my vehicles that I worked on.
