Whichever one is cheapest and is spec'd correctly to take Wilson parts
You can get a Remington 1911 for $499 right now.
And just to reinforce Gtg's point, I never had any trouble with my Officer's Model 1911s, and they were the ones I shot the best (aside from my Delta Elite, which I should've bloody well kept).
About 20 years ago, there was one brand (Essex, maybe?) that was notorious for cracked frames, but the other brand I recall being on the "1/10, would not buy" list is now on the "ZOMG Pwnies!1!!11!1" list, so who knows...
I'd stay away from the three-inch guns. Timing is critical on all semi-autos, and three inch 1911s have very little room for error (no pun intended). While it can be done, it is very hard to make a 3 in. 1911 run correctly.
I have a low end RI officers model, for a carry weapon. It works as well as my kimber.Grabsgun has it for $499. Remington has an additional mail in rebate of $75
