Any ideas on that pistol's value? Those proof marks are for real!
No Idea. It is in excellent shape though. Numbers match (frame and magazine. Dont know if there are more numbers internally)

Edit. Slide number matches also

I know he wont ever part with it save his final days. Unfortunately his son would likely sell it for as much as he can get for it. His youngest daughter would probably have it destroyed. She's a liberal Karen

I know it’s not German but when ever I hear P38 I think of the US fighter plane that Snattlerake posted or one of these old c-rat can openers
