Getting out of a wedding

I’m not going to my first cousin’s wedding the end of this month solely because I don’t want to.

However, IF @Oklahomabassin can talk his newest lady love into marrying him and I get an invitation, I’ll definitely go to that one.

I'm to the point where I don't go to much of anything if I don't want to, but I will say when my current wife and I got married, I picked the day before rifle season opened...just so work couldn't tell me I couldn't take off the first week of season/Thanksgiving week

Aaaaaaaaaaa No! Friend’s son’s BIL is your friend’s son’s wife’s brother? That is definitely overstretching and falls in the category of if you want to sure but don’t feel bad staying home and changing the air in your tires.

One of my sisters got married so often that my father and I told her "We will catch the next one."

Of course her husbands all died for one reason or another. The last one has hung in there for over 20 years. I am impressed.

Does he hang out with said sons BIL? if not, Go hunt and watch football. Weddings are for immediate family and close friends....

He sees him a few times a year, they live out of state. So no, not really.

A lot of people send invites seemingly to increase their pile of presents. I don't feel obligated to go to weddings. Then again, most of my friends got married long ago and none of our kids are old enough for them yet, so it's not like I get peppered with invites at present.

Your friend's son's wedding... maybe, depending on how close of a friend.

Your friend's son's brother-in-law... um, I think you can skip this one.

To put it another way, if you went, would either the bride or groom know who you are? If not, then no.

That's an easy no on that one, too far removed imo.

As to the folks who plan a wedding on holidays, I know someone who planned their wedding on Christmas Eve. Family was there of course, they were there anyway for Christmas, but the friend attendance was almost zero lol.
