To the OP, being as the deceased father is likely outside OK - care to share the info for the OSA sleuths?

Name and approximate date the balloon was found?

By the daughter releasing the names on the balloon, it could be considered a 'public' release of information. Not to mention the obituary, in whatever newspaper.
(Father and daughter names, and date balloon was found?)

Guys while I understand the sorry of losing a loved one, release balloons can cause hard. Not so much to the environment as to stock and wildlife. I know of one guy that has lost cattle, another a goat and a lady lost her horse. They get curious and try to eat it. Some (like the horse and goat) it gets caught in their throat. The cattle I do not know how it kills, just that it can.

Personally I think people need to start a new trend and tie the balloon to a reel of fishing line. Let it carry the message to the loved one in heaven then reel it in and dispose of it.

Not trying to start an argument, just telling what I have heard. I know the lady who lost the horse had raised it from a filly and done competitions with it. She was very broken up over it.

Maybe the loved one will write something on the card before they pull the balloon down...

Good point. Here are the specifics and it was found Saturday. I don’t think it has been there very long. I was at this spot right before deer season and it was not there. I am so anal, I would have noticed. Haha. It was also clean.

I know this is crazy, but my hunting buddy and I are thinking it may be from
Mexico. That article of the balloon in Ohio makes me wonder.

I know some people that release hot air balloons (i.e. a trash-bag with a candle underneath) every year in remembrance of their father.

My only thought was about the potential fire risk from the candle, wherever it landed.
Most likely the candle burns out before decent.

I seem to recall in WWII the Japanese used balloon bombs.

Very good point. I would think in this day and age they could make balloons that were okay for the environment and animals. I am thinking bamboo fiber or hemp fiber.
