The USS Liberty has long been used by conspiracy theory guys to claim that Israel has more sway over our government than our laws do. If you look at how the incident has been played down, covered up, those bringing it up accused of anti-Semitism, it's pretty easy to tell who's problem. I watched an interview with some of the sailors - one Jewish sailor was beside himself with anger over the way it was handled, and the attempt to color the folks that wanted to get sunlight on the incident.
Shady? He didn't come close to being shady. He was in total darkness. Shade requires sunlight and he had none in his politics or his soul.
And there are those that use this tragic event to rationalize their bigotry towards Jews. You know, like the bigots who have said that it’s OK for Islamic terrorists to “butcher” Israeli children.
