It was on the news this morning. I don’t know if he was a Bishop or Cardinal, but during the interview he was asked about moving priests to different locations in his area to cover it up and he denied it. Then they named two who had been. One had apparently done time for sexual abuse and was receiving a check from the church after his release.
Something of this magnitude needs to be dealt with. Those who are covering it up are just as bad as those who commit the crime and may have a hidden history of the same activity.

There are predators in every profession. The Catholic church certainly has a long history of this so they are easy and popular targets of attacks. It doesn't make much news when a trach collector, postman, grocer, etc. are guilty of the same offenses. No pardon for these priests, or the controlling body of the Catholic faith, and at the same time no condemnation of Catholics or any other faith either. I know many Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostal's, and Most of the ones I know are fine people, and are people I look to as role models.
To me the catholic church is to blame. Sure it happens with other factions, but it seems lengths to which they sweep this under the rug just breeds an environment for to happen again and again and they take the gold medal in covering this crap up. It's obvious many within the church are more worried about an image than they are the children.
Not being Catholic, I don’t really know what is being done by the leadership, but the Catholics I do know are certainly not of the coverup mindset and are just as appalled as non catholic commenters.
A handful of molesters could be covered up and relocated by bishops or a cardinal. The knowledge of 300+ would go a long way up the hierarchy tree. And that's just in PA, how many are they covering up for nation wide? Heads should roll.

If you watch the movie Spotlight, you will get an idea of the number of priests that molested children world wide, and when caught they were moved to another church.Most often when you hear about someone molesting children affiliated with church it will be a catholic priest.
This has been my experience also.
Ugggghhh,...it just keeps getting worse.
