Never had a phone, electricity, natural gas or running water in the fifties and we made it. If they want me they'll holler!
Back in the day I used to holler at my friend who lived a quarter of a mile from us to see if he wanted to meet up and go to the creek and stuff. If it wasn't windy you could communicate pretty good. I can't hear well enough now a days though. Phones were only used for prank calls, when we got to spend the night together.
Is Red there? you know Red Hot don't that just burn you up?
All this Tech stuff kids ain't got a chance to have any fun any more.

ATT messed up the land line years ago for my house and it has been VOIP for a long time.
Yea I found out when the power went out and I hooked up an old rotary phone and it did not work.

I was a bit upset.
Just recently ATT switched the entire neighborhood to Fiber and my Yahoo Email account no longer recognizes the address and will not let me log in so all that stuff in my e mail like family and friends contacts and pictures are LOST forever.

Took me a month to get another e mail, now I have a Gmail instead of Yahoo.

I have been thinking of canceling the phone as they charge too much for it and i can get a cell cheaper and for me it is all about the price.

I do not like to spend money on myself unless it means saving money.

When we moved into our current house the cell reception here was horrible and there was no high speed internet.
Had ATT land line connected to at least have reliable phone service for emergencies. After 2 days the phone went out with no dial tone. Tech came out and said he had the problem fixed. A few days later, no dial tone. Had about 10 different techs out and they would all say the last guy didn't know what he was doing and they found the real problem. After about 4 months and never getting reliable service, I had it disconnected.

Since then OEC has installed fiber and 5G service is strong in the area. No need for a land line now.
