1st one for kids

Did you start yours off with an air pistol/rifle or did you start them on the .22's? I was thinking an air rifle or pistol, but you guys have changed my mind with good info before.

We always had BB guns, but I bought a 22 cricket when my oldest was about 4.

My twin daughters started out with Daisy BB guns that my Dad bought them when they were about 4. By 5 I had bought both of them a 40th Anniversary 10/22. Now they shoot anything they can get their hands on.

I started both my boys out with an air rifle but quickly went to a 22. We just made sure the stock would fit. Both of them took their first deer when they were nine using a little Rem 788 in 6mm that had also had the stock cut down to fit their size...I feel the fit of the gun is very important in starting out no matter what the caliber.

It is a great starter. Both my boys quickly moved to 10/22s, but the Cricket was great for teaching them the basics.

Both my boys had air rifles and air pistols. Starting out with. The semi auto 22 s. But by ages 7 they were shooting my AR. But that's when 5.56 was 10 cents around.

My girls started with air guns. The 8 year old now shoots my 15-22' with me standing next to her. The adjustable stock and fore end grip accessories make it easy to make it fit them.
