The one on the left is my 11 now 12 year old sons first deer. Live weight it weighed 260lbs, field dressed at 200. He has since been grounded for the next 5 years for out doing his Daddy. He was shot in Jet Okla. on a friends farm. His rifle was a Howa 243. Forgot to say not only was it his first deer, it was his first time hunting.

That's not possible. A .243 isn't enough gun for a deer. ;)

Great buck! Congrats....but what does he have planned for this year?

I told ya, he's grounded.:hyper: He told me he was going to shoot a bigger one then me. He used Winchester Power Point's 80gr. The deer piled up within 50 yards from where he shot him.

The furthest I've had a deer go after getting hit with a .243 is 40 yards. It's a great caliber.

I hope he shoots a bigger one this year!

Very nice! I am taking my 11 yr old on his first deer hunt this fall as well and he will be shooting a .243 as well. I hope he does as well as your son did. Congrats on a fine looking kill there.
