No pictures yet, but I went out with my dad this morning and managed to call him in a small tom. He had just come from the direction of another shot and didn't seem terribly interested in our spread, but he wasn't running for dear life either. Dad ended up taking him with a very nice 60 yard shot. This was his first turkey, though he's been hunting big game for 20 years. We're both probably a little old to only be taking our first turkeys this year, but better late than never, and it was still a great morning.

Had 3 gobbling on a power line right of way the other morning. Got greedy and tried to get real close, wasn't anticipating the hens roosted on the other side of the power line! Busted them off the roost. The toms knew then something wasn't right. I watched them fly down from about 100 yards away. They gobbled their fool heads off and I threw everything I had at them but the kitchen sink, even the ol gooble call, and that on public land. They gobbled at all of it and wouldn't budge. Fooled with them for about 2 hrs and eased out. Gonna try them later in the season when the hens are on the nest. Did I mention I HATE turkeys? lol

Morel hunting was powder dry.......and that was about the wettest place I've got access to. Did get on some birds, my daughter spoiled me a little and did the calling, called up her first bird tonight, even let me pull the trigger!:) Getting across the creek to get to the bird tuned out to be an adventure in itself. Beautiful evening out.

Nice mature tom Okie!

I need to get on the wood lathe and make your daughter a striker for that pot call. Doesn't look like she needs it, but its fun to try different strikers.

Nice bird Okie4570. Me and my 8yr old son got on those same birds I was fooling with Wednesday. Watched them gobbling their fool heads off on a limb from 75 yards. Got the binoculars on them, all Jakes!!!! I thought they were, at least my boy got to hear some great gobbling this morning, He was fired up...
