All this talk about dragging reminds of a news article out of Michigan my wife sent me, about a month ago or so. An ER doctor reported 3 men died of heart attacks within 48hrs, all dropped while dragging deer. (Separate hunters, not all 3 died together) The doctor encouraged older out of shape hunters to get checked out and be careful before pushing it too hard in the woods
@kwaynem :blush:

I don't doubt it. I have no trouble playing full court basketball with kids for an hour or so. Nothing too serious but running all the while. Dragging that buck in the mud was on another level.

Was talking with an biologist with the WD and he was asking me if id be interested in helping an older lady in the city who has so many deer on her little 7.5 acre property they are eating her garden and getting in her flower beds. When he told me her location i realized it was just a couple miles from my house. I said its the last of season and i still have a couple tags left, id see if me or my kids can kill a few does. Went and met with her and set a camera and dumped a little corn to see if any of the deer were going to be in the daylight on her property. Sure enough last and first light plenty of does. Property is NOT wooded, has some mature oaks, and a few cedars, but no wooded areas. So i knew it was going to be tough without perfect wind to kill anything. 2 days after meeting with her i went and set for an evening hunt when the wind was right, 3 minutes before light a group of 5 bucks came in and i picked the biggest of the group out. he isn't a giant by no means, but was fun, and a success to take one of her many deer off her property. For a central Ok deer he was huge body, maybe one of the biggest body deer i have ever killed, his head wouldn't fit into my pot i boil the deer heads in, and i have boiled a lot of deer heads in this pot! city deer eat good. There is a LOT of deer in this area, and of course i had a real decent buck show up last night , maybe she will need more deer killed next year :)

Congrats on your buck! :thumb:

It’s a common phenomenon today that most people don’t seem to grasp. They build houses and subdivisions in deer country and then wonder why deer show up in their yards and eat their flowers and gardens. The rural subdivisions my mother’s property is part of has a herd of 30+/- deer roaming through the manicured yards, and the residents b*tch about it all the time.🤣
