That looks like those refuge ponds on the north side of 11 west of Sand creek. That was just low hanging fruit for the GW’s.

It's always been closed over Thanksgiving for as long as i can remember. Christmas on the other hand, we've killed lots and lots of Christmas morning birds.
I actually didn’t remember that, and since the statute of limitations has probably run out, I’m almost positive we used to jump ponds when we came up for Thanksgiving in the 70’s and 80’s.

Well you were shooting lead then too, seasons could have been way different then. That was during the point system. When you were jumping ponds and hoped you didn't shoot the wrong duck(s) or it put you over 100pts lol.

Yeah sure enough, was looking back through the last dozen years dates. I'm not sure why we never hunted over Thanksgiving ever. Still in deer mode I guess. Some of the places I deer hunt guys are always banging away during MZl season, don't recall ever hearing that during gun though.
