I had to look in the book case. I have a knife exactly like that I bought in the 70's, sometime from about 7th or 8th grade. I think it cost under $10.00. Mine is a Camillus USAF type, I lost my sheath and stone early on. I does have the early camillus markings dating it to the 1960's. It must have set in the Hardware store I purchased it from for a little while. You could still purchase single 22 shells from the store when I was a kid. I suppose they made more money on a box that way. I see all kinds of crazy prices for them on ebay and stuff.
The 6 in. blades are usually in the $200.00 range. Mine is a 5 inch, they hover in $80-100.00 range.

Believe it or not but that was a US Army issue blade for me in 1989 or 1990. I have 2 of them. I would have to peek at it again, but the knife has USN markings.

Even 35 years ago we scratched our heads at being issued a ww2 era relic,

It got used quite a bit because the period correct hollow handle commercial survival knife hanging upside down on the front of my LBE was my baby and reserved for special occasions only I guess

Was looking through my ammo stash last night. I accumulate a lot of odd ammo, some I've got guns for and some I don't. Getting down to my last few rounds of .350rem mag. I bought lots of brass and dies when I bought the gun 20y ago. I'm still shooting the two boxes of factory I bought though at the same time at $29. Looks like I'll be reloading for sure lol.......

I don’t feel so bad about the 2.50 per round I paid for my Whelen shells a couple of weeks ago.

I took my .223 savage axis armed with 55Gr v-max propelled by 26.0 gr H4895.
This 140 lb field dressed doe did not do well.
I have taken the meat off the other side then skinned this side and found the bullet went into the front chest where I was aiming as she was coming at me at 180 yards.
Bullet entered chest area and blew out the front shoulder as there was a hole in the shoulder blade you could pass a golf ball through and then the bullet passed through the guts and exited the rib cage area at the rear and then entered back into the hide 2" later and buried hair ,bone and bullet jacket and a bit of the red plastic tip into the rear leg.

That is the farthest I have had the 55v-max travel through a deer.
Messed up all the meat on the front shoulder and the first 3" of back strap and part of the rear leg.
Only 1 tender loin off of that one.

You can't make out what is going on in this picture.
Neck and head is closest Hanging off bed of truck not seen in pic.
I am holding part of what is the front shoulder in left hand and right hand showing where hair and shrapnel entered rear leg.

What a mess.

Opening day, Ruger Ranch 350 legend shooting Winchester power point 180gr.

Tomorrow I’ll be running a 12.5” AR shooting Hornady 55gr SP. shots should be around 100 yards and it’s a dead on shot out to 200.

That is what I said when I tried to pick her up onto the tailgate of the truck.
I stopped and got assistance.
These deer in Watonga roaming on farms around there are huge and stand in a field looking like young horses.

I am used to an acorn eating 80 lb doe.
