The 300 BLACKOUT is based on the full length 221 Remington Fireball case necked up to .30 caliber...

You can buy factory 221 Fireball brass for around $45 per hundred...

If you want to go with a "rimmed" version of the cartridge, this is what I did:

I started with Starline nickel plated 357 magnum brass...

I then went with Hornady's 208 gr. A-MAX bullets...

After running the cases througn my 30-221 size die and loading a round, I wound up with a cartridge that looked like this....... As you can see, the bullet itself is quite a bit longer than what the case itself is...

This rimmed version is for guns like the T/C Contender, G-2, Encore, H&R and N.E.F. break open single shots....
