55 grain 5.56 WWB performance on a donated car.

I was out at the range last night and decided to make use of the cars we had placed out there. I was wonder how well a 5.56 would fare against a normal skinned car. It is a 1997 chevy blazer with the interior cannibalized. I was out at about 70-75 yds. I was using a Spikes M4LE upper with the 1-7 twist.

they are a bit out of order. the last picture is the entry point on the driver's door handle, the 2nd picture is the exit from the driver's door, third picture is the entry into the passenger door and the first picture is the exit point from the passenger door

Typical 5.56 round goes through 1/4" mild steel plate all day long. I wouldn't expect any less in the tin of a car.

Try it with a pistol next time. Seen lots of holes in the car doors at USSA. Don't think I would trust one for cover

light ball 7.62X54R will go through 2/3rds an inch hot rolled steel plate like nothing.

I can melt 2/3rds an inch hot rolled steel anytime I eat jalapenos! They should call them "twice hot peppers". Nah Mean?

The only place that offers any cover on a vehicle is the engine compartment. A 9mm pistol round will go right through anywhere else.

This is 1/4 inch mild steel at about 75 yards using joe blow bulk FMJ 55 gr hand loads

I was punching holes....You should see the entire car......I was just dinking around. I am well aware of the non bullet stopping power of a car door. I really put it up as a reminder to some.
