Some of my guys want to pitch in on a group buy of 556.
We're interested in plinking ammo not hunting.
In the $4000 to $6000 range.
Where should I look?

There is an OHP in the Chickisha area that I would sugggest you contact, but I do not seem to be able to go back far enough in my posts histroy to give you a contact. If you can connect, he had winchesters avilable on a ragular basis in the quantity you might be looking for, 3K was a normal sale for him, special orders if required. Nice guy to deal with, met me at the airport for a transaction. I will keep looking, but it seems posts get deleated off after eithor too many or too long.

Especially if you guys are going to spend that much, stay the heck away from Tula.

I have yet to find a caliber made by them that shoots reliably and/or well.

I actually shoot their stuff in 40,45,223,762x39,9mm & 380.
The only ftf issues I've had were in 1 pistol. They just didn't have enough mmph to cycle it. And it hasn't been shot much and is still pretty stiff.
Of course all of this was before the boating accident, now all of my firearms are just memories.

I know a guy who will know the active duty OHP. I'll check it out.

I have shot tons of Tula, wolf, monarch and a few others in my glock 19 and in 3 different ar's and I have never had one failure. Now I know I probably will but the stuff is way better than what some people say it is. And you just cannot beat the price. I can't afford the brass stuff. Doesn't really matter anymore though thanks to okietool all of my firearms are rusting away under the water because he can't drive a boat.

That price seems pretty horrible at over .43 a round even for green tip. Hell even CTD had green tip for .38 a round and you only had to buy 600 to get it.

Brand: Federal XM855BK150
Item: 90755
UPC: 50029465065169

Federal XM855 5.56mm NATO ammunition is loaded to Military specification at the Lake City facility. This particular load uses the XM855 bullet which is a 62 grain Green Tip Steel Penetrator. The finished rounds consist of sealed primers which is ideal for long term storage and moisture protection. The ammo comes 150 rounds in a cardboard box.

Bullet: XM855 62 Grain Green Tip Steel Penetrator
Muzzle velocity: 3104 fps
Muzzle energy: 1326 ft/lbs
Uses: Personal Protection or Self Defense
Note: Use caution when shooting steel target. This round has the potential to punch holes through steel plates.

Note: This item is manufactured in the Lake City Plant currently run by Federal ATK. The ammo is brand new, brass cased, boxer primed, non-corrosive and re-loadable. It is made to military specifications which require the cases to be annealed. Unlike civilian production ammo, the military requires to see evidence of annealing on the round itself. This is why the cases will appear to be discolored. This is done on purpose in order to meet the military requirement for overall strength and durability of the finished round.

Price is per 600 round case.
