I drove that stretch a couple months ago... people, I will tell you, IT IS FRIGGING WORTH IT!!!!

JUST to bypass Austin at ANY time of the day!

Another really cool thing, is you don't need a PikePass-type sticker or account, and you DON'T need to stop at the toll booths! They automatically take a picture of your tag and send you a bill at the address your vehicle is registered to later. We got our about 6 weeks later.

The speed limit on I10 from SATX to El Paso is 80, though that's on a very rural road.

I'm really tempted to take my '03 Z06 down there just to say I drove it. :yelclap:

Yeah, you can't drive 85 mph all the way from Austin to San Antonio! Sometimes you're only doing 40 on that stretch of I-35. The 85 speed limit is only on the 41 mile stretch of toll road 130 that goes east just north of Austin and then reconnects with I-35 south of Austin: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...ghway-with-fastest-speed-limit-in-nation?lite

That loop road through Hutto has been there a while. The 85 mph section are new segments that just opened today. It extends eat of I-35 and catches I-10 into San Antonio:

Don't waste your time, you'll end up behind a FedEx truck going 65 trying to pass a US Mail carrier going 64 7/8 just like you do on rural I40 here. It happened to me between Odessa and Pecos
