A Question about transporting ammo and weapon

I think TITLE 21 § 1289.13 A covers the difference of having or not having an SDA license for transportation in you auto. JMO So no, Oklahoma does not have true Constitutional Carry in our autos unless you have a SDA License, we are a $70 fine away from it if the LEO wants to follow the law as written as I see it.

No, its legal to carry a loaded handgun without a license UNTIL you commit a traffic infraction. Basically its a $70 increase on your ticket. However, if you pull up to a location, get out and a cop sees you with an handgun on your hip he can not ticket you for driving with a loaded handgun by itself. It can only be a ticket if he stops you for a traffic violation.

Now if the cop is a dick he can wait for you to return, drive off, then stop you one of the multiple obscure traffic violations and tack on that $70 bucks. The good news is its just a ticketable offense, you won't lose your firearm, DL or be arrested.

This tread helped a lot. I’m new to the site, but on the other hand I was just recently pulled over by a Oklahoma highway patrolman, while sitting in his patrol car we got on the topic of guns. So I asked him is it frowned soon to have one chambered. Just like the tread said above, his answer was very conflicting calling it stupid then went into detail about open carry and concealed carry which is another topic but I really haven’t been carrying for this reason. Now I am certain, I feel more confident. I’m confident in my firearm, my ability to be responsible, and my training.

I wasn’t in to guns back when me and the ex wife ran team over the road so I don’t have much input on it but from what I’ve read, I think if it were me, there’s a fine line on how the police can search your sleeper. Supposedly if it’s a company truck then evidently you can’t tell them they can’t search but if it’s your truck and the sleeper curtain is closed, they can’t go in there without a search warrant. Not totally sure how true that is. I would definitely research it, and I would research it myself if I was to go back out over the road because if I did, I would certainly be carrying, at least for when I’m in the sleeper asleep. Law or not irregardless of where I’m at, I’d rather be judged by twelve rather that carried out by six if I broke the law somewhere defending myself. Just my philosophy.

I wasn’t in to guns back when me and the ex wife ran team over the road so I don’t have much input on it but from what I’ve read, I think if it were me, there’s a fine line on how the police can search your sleeper. Supposedly if it’s a company truck then evidently you can’t tell them they can’t search but if it’s your truck and the sleeper curtain is closed, they can’t go in there without a search warrant. Won't be carrying in the truck. Employer won't allow and I cant afford to lose my job if i decide to violate policy. That’s unfortunate. I sure am glad I work for a guy why doesn’t mind at all. Course, the only state I travel to is Texas so reciprocity covers me as long as I maintain my permit.

But yah, to answer your question more thoroughly, I think pretty much anybody who answered is correct, that you’re no longer restricted as far as vehicle carry on a pistol.
