heat pumps are air conditioners that have a 4 way valve that reverses the flow of refrigerant which turns the outside coil into the evaporator and the inside coil into the condenser. at around 35 degrees the heat pump starts to lose efficiency and needs supplemental heat either heat strips or on a dual fuel system it shuts the heat pump off and brings on a gas furnace
As for me, I like it to be simple. I can fix simple. Beyond that, well ... I'M LOST !!!
