I think most will agree that the development and advancement of small optics for handguns has been the biggest firearms development of the 21st century on the handgun front. The most vexing issue with them to date has been the lack of a standardized "footprint" and the myriad of mounting adapters and such that attempt to solve that issue. Most leave a LOT to be desired and in more than a few cases, have resulted in optics launching themselves off slides in catastrophic fashion.

So, have Glock and Aimpoint just come up with THE solution? Discuss!

As long as the clamp screws are robust enough and have enough thread engagement (and it looks like they are/do), that system should be awesome. It eliminates all possible movement and locates the sight accurately. It's the same concept of precision v-blocks in machining and metrology lab inspection.

Outstanding work on the part of Glock and Aimpoint.

Thats great and all but how many people are already sitting on a MOS model? Glad there is an update of course but had that been the first iteration, they wouldve soldddd a lot of them.
I do agree, but with the advent of the G47 I'd be willing to get one of these with the COA Optic. It would be backwards compatible with my G19.5 with a Holosun 507K and allow me to have two guns with multiple configurations. .

One thing I just thought of. They have basically removed all load from the screws except for normal axial load. These won't be shearing off from load along the axis of the slide and inertia. That's pretty damned significant.

The only downside is if you do lose clamp and optic, you are hosed because your rear sight is gone too, but the chance of that is almost zero if you install to proper torque. IMO.

Why no G26?

Just like the Glock, the aimpoint looks blocky...

However looks sturdy and secure. Also nice to see they are building on their designs, and trying new stuff. Be interesting to see what Glock offers a few years out, wonder if they may change up their design? Have just seen evolutionary changes, not much different from the 1st Gens.
