Man how I love the Hueys. There is no other sound like a Huey beating the air into submission. Kinda akin to the Merlin engine in a P51 or a Vulcan 20mm cannon spitting freedom pills.

I've spent a lot of hours in helos mostly as PAX.

They do make their very own distinct whoop whoop whoop sound. Can hear them miles away. I agree it is a cool sound.

It was at 1000 feet. That was a "lucky" shot
I'm told combat pilots call them "golden BBs." Chances of a hit from a rifle on an aircraft in flight are slim, but every now and then a ground pounder gets lucky. With a cruising speed of 110kts, I'd say hitting one at an altitude of 1,000ft involves considerably more luck than skill.
