Nope. He got off because the DA withheld evidence and the defense figured it out. Judge said "not in my courtroom" which is how it should be. Regardless of guilt or innocence (though we hear all the time innocent until proven guilty) there are rules surrounding the handling of evidence. The DA didn't think Baldwin's attorney would notice. This was her ****-up.

The question is: did the DA do it on purpose and then alert defense counsel so that he could walk? Interesting that the judge dismissed WITH prejudice. Not unprecedented, but an interesting judicial ruling.

It seems that a good portion of the populace knew that he wouldn’t be convicted for one reason or another, and then, poof, he won’t be.

Nope. She did not alert defense counsel. She took the stand and tried to explain why she did what she did to the court and the judge was unimpressed, to say the least. Her "explanation" was convoluted and had more arms than an octopus, IMHO. The bottom line was that the ammunition/dummy rounds in question were at the filming site for "1883" and then was moved to "PDQ" and then to the "Rust" film site and were given a different file number, so she didn't think she had to disclose it. But ... She was at the meeting where they decided to put that stuff under a different file number so she couldn't claim ignorance about the 2 different file numbers. I did not hear her claim she forgot about that meeting (and she may have very well done that) but the end "look" is that it appears, on the surface, that she did not want to produce that ammo/dummies for some reason.

Very possible, but it also sounds like that both the DA's office and the PD/CSO are about as impressive as a soup sandwich.
