The Amazon Kindle team says:

We're excited to introduce an all-new Kindle family: three all-new Kindle e-readers that are smaller, lighter, and more affordable than ever before, and Kindle Fire - a new class of Kindle that brings the same ease-of-use and deep integration of content that helped Kindle re-invent reading - to movies, TV shows, music, magazines, apps, books, games, and more.

Kindle is now small and light enough to fit easily in your pocket and carry with you everywhere, yet it still features the same 6-inch, most advanced electronic ink display that reads like real paper, even in bright sunlight.

Kindle is available starting today at www.amazon.com/kindle.

New Addition to the Kindle Family-"Kindle Touch"-Only $99

Kindle Touch is a new addition to the Kindle family with an easy-to-use touch screen that makes it easier than ever to turn pages, search, shop, and take notes - still with all the benefits of the most advanced electronic ink display. I love my wife's Kindle and I'd love to have one, I'd also love to have a tablet. The Kindle Fire sounded like the perfect product until they announced it's WiFi only. For $200, it's not a bad price at all, but I'd be willing to pay $250 for a 3G or 4G version as well as for a monthly data plan. The older 3G Kindles get free 3G through AT&T, so it's not like Amazon doesn't have their foot in the door with a service carrier.

It's been announced already that they'll be bringing out a Kindle Fire 10" and hopefully this one will have 3G (or above). The same company that made BlackBerry's PlayBook made this and they didn't release a 3G model until after the WiFi-only version was in customer's hands, so maybe we can expect the same thing to happen here.

The problem with the Kindle Fire is you lose the eink screen which is what makes the ereaders so nice.

I know. Im not sure how this screen is going to look.

Wife is making it known she wants a eReader for Christmas, so what is an eink screen and is it something she needs?

eink is the technology that kindle uses on their screens. other than the fire, that makes it look like you are reading off of paper instead of a computer screen. Less eye strain after long reading sessions.

I have a Sony EBook reader. I don’t know about the new Kendal’s but the old ones were not compatible with the Oklahoma Metro Library EBooks. This is why I have the Sony. Being able to download their books free saves lots of $$$.
